Today, life without the World Wide Web has become quite unimaginable. The evolutionary stages growing from the initial Web of documents into a Web of people and a Web of intelligent services during a short time span of only about 30 years have created an unprecedented impact on all levels of society. Offering pervasive access to information and social contacts the Web thus shapes to a large degree how we experience the world. In step with the technological evolution, however, already 20 years ago a strong emphasis was put on the establishment of a dedicated Web Science investigating what we do with the Web and what the Web does with us.

Join us at TU Braunschweig in a celebration of 20 years of Web Science during the 18th ACM Web Science Conference in Brunswick, Germany. As Web Science is a strongly interdisciplinary field, we welcome quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research, including techniques from the social sciences as well as from information and computer science.
