SIGWEB Fair Access Grant
SIGWEB is committed to promoting fair access to its conferences. To achieve this goal, SIGWEB is increasing and broadening the student support offered at these events. This initiative aims to reduce financial barriers for students as well as early researchers from economically developing countries, thus enabling broader participation in conferences and creating a more inclusive academic community.
Grant amount: The total grant amount allocated for WebSci 2026 is of 10,000 USD. The size of the award to an individual may vary depending on various factors such as the number of qualified applicants or the distance travelled, but is capped at a maximum of 1,000 USD for each individual application. Applicants may submit applications prior to learning whether their papers have been accepted. However, preference will be given to individuals who have an accepted paper and who will be presenting that work themselves.
Eligibility criteria: The grants are open to all MSc and PhD students, as well as to post-doctoral researchers, or non-tenured professionals who are residents in any of the countries listed at https://services.acm.org/public/qj/proflevel/countryListing.cfm. The grant may be used to support travel to the conference, including flights, accommodation costs, and other costs related to obtaining a VISA. Please note that conference registration fees cannot be reimbursed by the grant. Any reimbursements that include non-approved items will be directly rejected.
Application process: Applications for the SIGWEB Fair Access Grant have to include the completed application form and a 1-2 page CV – Fair Access Application Form Fillable.pdf
Important dates: All applications have to be submitted until February 28, 2026 anywhere on earth.
Application submission: Send an application email to the conference’s General Chair Wolf-Tilo Balke and the Organizing Chair Florian Plötzky
Travel award selection committee: Applications will be selected by the conference chairs.
